The Swan, Rowberrow | Doorstep Tours: Somerset

The sun has well and truly had his hat on of late and, as such, we've also found ourselves spending a lot more time outdoors. After hearing that Bee's Dad had taken the week off work, we decided to catch up with him and go for some yummy pub grub at one of our local pubs, The Swan. We've celebrated many an event as this pub and it's always one of the pubs we head to when the sun is shining and we want to get away from the seaside crowds. 

After much deliberation, Bee opted for one of the day's specials: Tuna steak, pineapple salsa and fries. Although, she's not actually able to eat fruit and veg at the moment so the salsa was swiftly transferred to her Dad's plate! Whilst she liked the dish, and demolished the fries, the steak was a little too rare for her liking. Not one for the faint hearted. She's definitely going to make a note of it for next time! 

Luke also went for one of the day's specials: Slow cooked pork belly with purple sprouting, mashed potato, sweet peppers and a honey & soy sauce. He got through it all with relative ease so that's always a good sign! 

Of course, no TFTC meal out is side-less. We decided to get the garlic focaccia because we are both garlic fiends. It was bloody delightful. We probably could have demolished a loaf's worth. Garlic is SO GOOD!

As you're in the middle of the countryside, it's never long before you hear the echo of hooves. This time we spotted four horses strolling along the lanes, looking rather content with life indeed. After polishing off the first course, Luke had his eye on the apple and cinnamon tart on the dessert board so he headed off to order it whilst Bee retrieved a cupcake from the boot of the car. We had been shopping earlier in the day...we don't just have an endless supply of cupcakes in the car. Totally wish we did, though! 

With full bellies, we headed to another little pub not too far away and had some more sophisticated conversation in the beer garden. Not before Dad discussed cider with the locals around the bar, of course. This little pub is pretty top secret, and it's only the locals that really venture to it, so we'll keep its whereabouts quiet for now. The One Where We Took Woody To The Meadow | Adventures with Luke, Bee & Woody

We've been promising to take you on more of our adventures this year so earlier on today we left the four walls of TFTC HQ and decided to take you with us. Whilst we didn't roam very far, we stumbled upon lots of fun via the following lane...



After passing the cows, sheep and rather empty-looking allotments, we found ourselves prancing around in one of the local meadows. Some of us pranced more than others... 



"OH HAI, LOOK AT ME PRANCE!" 



"PHEW! THAT'S ENOUGH OF THAT..."



"OKAY, MAYBE JUST ONE MORE BOUNCE!!" 


Whilst Woody ran around, and Luke searched for the ball that he decided to throw in the long grass (?!), I took myself off in search of things that were of great interest to me. I found cowslip in abundance, a dandelion seed head that I made a wish upon, a ditch full of sticks and a little creature's treehouse. Not bad. Not bad, at all. 



Meanwhile, Woody had set his sights on swimming a couple of laps in the muddy rhyne...one of his favourite past times! 

By this point, my feet were killing me so I abandoned my boots and padded home, through the village, in my raccoon socks. Fancy!


Home time, however, was put back a little bit because Woody decided to take himself off for one last swim in the rhyne...which was swiftly followed by shaking the water off all over me...

Favourite Fictional Characters | TV & Film

We've been working on an exciting project lately that has lead us to indulge in long conversations about our favourite fictional characters, so we thought we'd share a few of them with you. It'd be really interesting, and extremely helpful, if you could share your favourite fictional characters from TV and film in the comments too! Thanks, guys. We're hoping to bring you lots of adventure posts this summer, so watch this space!

michael scott 

B: I think Michael Scott is one of the cleverest fictional characters of all time. He pretty much always says the wrong thing, apart from those rare occasions when he shows a great deal of compassion towards his colleagues. I don't know anyone that doesn't note Michael Scott as one of their favourite things about The Office. He just brings such an interesting dynamic to the show and to comedy, in general. If you haven't watched it, you really really should. 

georgEs hautecourt 

B: The Aristocats was one of my favourite films as a child and I'm still incredibly fond of it. Whilst I was a big Marie fan, Mum tells me that I always used to laugh hysterically at Georges whenever he popped up on screen, probably because he reminded me of my Grandad - who was equally as eccentric. I adore Georges, from his ridiculous glasses to his fragile dance moves. I still laugh whenever I think of this exchange between him and Edgar, the butler, who is trying to help him up the stairs after Georges refuses to use the 'bird cage' of an elevator: 

E: May I give you a hand, sir?

G: You wouldn't have an extra foot, would you, Edgar? 

lumpy space princess 

B: OH MY GLOB! I'm not even that far into Adventure Time yet but I already love Lumpy Space Princess, like seriously. LSP has some pretty important things to say and I'm looking forward to listening to more of them. 

april ludgate 

B: April just gets me, you know?! I just absolutely love her brand of dead-pan apathetic humour. I can usually be found laughing along to every single one of her scenes because I just get what she means. She's pretty much my patronus. I'm also totally all over her and Andy. They just work. 

WALTER BISHOP  

L: What a great character John Noble created! While I did enjoy Fringe, it did struggle to keep the quality flowing from the first season to the last. However, the one character who stuck with it, and who I loved from start to finish, was Walter Bishop. He has got to be one of the funniest and oddest characters I have seen in a TV series and I find I just can't stop smiling when he's on screen, even if he does have some nasty skeletons in his closet.

harvey specter 

L: Suits is one of the newer TV series I've started watching but it didn't take many episodes for me to like the characters and care about the stuff that goes on around them. While Donna Paulsen and Louis Litt get honorable mentions, Harvey Specter, played by Gabriel Macht, wins it for me. He's practically Bruce Wayne...if he decided to take another path in the realm of justice.  

john mcclane 

L: I couldn't have a fictional character list without including a character played by Bruce Willis could I?! There's not too much explaining to do here really as John McClane is one of the most iconic action heroes of the 20th century. Saying that, I really wish they hadn't dragged him into this century. I think Die Hard 5 was the only film that made me cry last year...

daryl dixon

L: I found it difficult to choose just four fictional characters for this post but I'm going to give Daryl a mention. Bee and I just finished watching the latest season of The Walking Dead, which was awesome by the way, and the episodes following Daryl were the best. He's one of the characters I've grown to love as the seasons have gone on because you can see just how much his character has developed from his introduction in the first season.
